The founderHelio Gracie
Helio Gracie founded and built the Gracie Humaita academy and is regarded as one of the fathers of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He refined the art so that a smaller, lighter person could defend against a larger, stronger one, the idea that still sits at the centre of everything we teach. For most of his competitive career he was the number one ranked fighter in Vale-Tudo.
"Teach those who don't know, remind those who do know, correct those who think they know."
